The House of Hope of Madison County, Inc. is a 28-bed halfway house program or transitional residential facility for adult males addicted to alcohol and/or drugs, providing a safe, supporting, and structured living environment that promotes a foundation of recovery as well as self-sufficiency for those early in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction. The primary focus is on assisting clients to stay clean and sober while learning skills needed for self-sufficiency through a structured 90-day program, ideally extending to 180 days with transition to one of our three-quarter houses. The program is 12-step based, utilizing the Twelve Steps originated by Alcoholics Anonymous as a spiritual foundation for personal recovery, and incorporates counseling, skill building, education, assessment, individualized treatment planning, case management, development of relationships in the recovering community, and utilization of the peer group, with on-site therapy using insight-oriented therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The target audience includes adult males at least 18 years old who are typically unemployed, homeless, without resources, lacking supportive families, facing legal problems, and coming directly from treatment, jail, prison, or the street. Admission requires a diagnosis of chemical dependency, medical and psychiatric stability, and high motivation for recovery.
