Margaret Mary Health is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1930 in Batesville, Indiana, when the Hillenbrand family invited the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis to establish a 50-bed acute care facility, originally named Margaret Mary Hospital in honor of its benefactors. Since 1967, under community ownership, it has evolved into Margaret Mary Health to encompass expanded services, programs, and locations serving the healthcare needs of rural communities in Ripley, Decatur, Franklin, and Dearborn counties.
