Crossville Mission Bible Training Center (CMBTC), a division of Mission Teens, Inc., is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization founded in 1969 by Rev.
James D. Bracken to address the need for meaningful ministry to troubled youth and adults.
With a legacy spanning over 50 years and 20 centers across the United States, CMBTC offers a Christ-centered, 8-10 month residential discipleship-training program specializing in overcoming alcohol, drug, and emotional problems through faith in Jesus Christ.
Grounded in the scripture 'Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you' (Matthew 6:33), the program provides practical, encouraging, and faith-based solutions for life-controlling issues, fostering love, acceptance, belonging, and spiritual growth in an inspiring environment.
Open to adults 18 years and older who are ready for change, it serves as a refuge for the hopeless and desperate, helping them find freedom from addiction and a new life with Jesus.
The structured curriculum includes four progressive stages—Probationary, Trainee, Resident, and Trainee Counselor—featuring 5.5 hours of daily Bible study, devotionals, worship, counseling, chores, and community activities, all free of charge and without narcotic or psychotropic medications.
Led by a dedicated staff of former addicts who serve without pay, drawing from personal transformations, CMBTC's mission is to witness unto Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, evangelizing, educating, and discipling individuals spiritually, physically, vocationally, and psychologically, ultimately proclaiming Jesus as the answer to everyone's needs and leading over 25,000 lives toward sobriety and purpose.

Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
The core of Mission Teens - House of Hope is a highly structured, 8- to 10-month inpatient residential discipleship program. Recovery unfolds continuously across four progressive stages of care—Probationary, Trainee, Resident, and Trainee Counselor—where residents gradually assume greater responsibilities and privileges as their healing takes root.
Therapies
Therapeutic intervention at Mission Teens - House of Hope abandons secular clinical modalities entirely to focus on rigorous Christian discipleship. The daily regimen requires roughly five and a half hours of intensive Bible study, morning devotionals, immersive worship sessions, and pastoral counseling aimed at instilling a new life in Jesus Christ.
Addictions
This ministry provides a reliable refuge for individuals desperate to overcome severe drug addiction and long-standing alcohol problems. Rather than viewing substance use strictly as an isolated medical issue, the staff approaches these addictions as life-controlling struggles that are best overcome through comprehensive spiritual transformation.
Conditions
The approach to mental health here differs significantly from traditional psychiatric models, focusing heavily on what the ministry terms "emotional problems" alongside substance abuse. It is vital to note that the program strictly prohibits the use of narcotic, psychotropic, and anti-depressant medications, relying solely on spiritual discipleship to navigate emotional challenges.
Issues
Staff members routinely walk alongside residents facing profound life devastation, from broken family dynamics and unresolved grief to looming legal complications and probation requirements. Personal testimonies from the ministry often highlight deep healing from the lingering trauma, housing insecurity, and emotional wreckage caused by years of active addiction.
Programs
Operating exclusively as a Christian faith-based ministry, the curriculum carries forward the visionary legacy laid down by Rev. James D. Bracken in 1969. Every aspect of daily life is anchored in seeking the Kingdom of God first, offering a purely biblical alternative to traditional 12-step recovery models.
