Caring About People, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive mental health services in Fort Wayne, Indiana, serving individuals of all ages from infants through adults, families, and groups. Established in 1987 initially as a for-profit entity focusing on substance use violations for adults, it expanded in 1995 to serve families in crisis and became a non-profit in 2002. The organization's mission is to serve as a catalyst and resource for people to develop and improve their quality of life by educating and counseling individuals to realize their potential for a healthy lifestyle, enriching family relationships, living without substance abuse, and modifying high-risk behaviors. This is accomplished through professional assessments, planned interventions, comprehensive education, and prevention programming, with a goal to enhance clients' resources so they may develop and maintain their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health. Services include substance abuse treatment at various levels using evidence-based programs like PRIME for Life and SAMHSA manuals, family and individual counseling offered in-office and in-home, parenting education programs such as Active Parenting series, youth programs addressing high-risk behaviors and shoplifting deterrence, anger management, theft intervention, cognitive behavioral programs like Thinking for a Change and Beyond Trauma for women, father engagement initiatives, and drug testing. Accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 1998 and CARF-certified, Caring About People collaborates with community agencies, courts, schools, and churches to support long-term recovery, family strengthening, and community safety through a holistic, client-centered approach.
