Deaconess Memorial Medical Center, formerly known as Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, is a non-profit regional health center serving residents of eight counties in southwestern Indiana since 1951. Originally established as a community project with support from the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, it has grown through numerous expansions to provide comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services with a compassionate and caring workforce dedicated to positive patient outcomes. Recognized with the prestigious 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Magnet with Distinction recognition in 2024, the center emphasizes excellence in nursing practice, radical innovation, and thoughtful leadership. It offers a wide array of services including emergency care, cancer treatment at the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center, family medicine, orthopaedics and spine care, surgical services, urology, women and infant services, behavioral health with holistic psychiatric care for adults, inpatient rehabilitation for conditions like stroke and neurological disorders, and wellness programs such as tobacco cessation. With over 1,600 caregivers and 250 physicians, it annually treats approximately 6,000 inpatients, 250,000 outpatients, 26,000 emergency patients, and 700 newborns, ensuring accessible care regardless of financial ability through financial assistance programs and a commitment to treating all patients for emergent and medically necessary needs.
