Northeastern Center (NEC) is a community mental health center founded in 1977, serving northeast Indiana with 12 locations across DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties. With over 200 employees including psychiatric staff, nurses, master's level therapists, and case facilitators, NEC helps individuals achieve emotional and mental wholeness through accessible, affordable, and quality behavioral health services. As the premier provider, NEC acts as the trusted partner empowering individuals to find hope, recovery, and a path forward, focusing on those with serious mental illness, children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals struggling with substance abuse. Services encompass comprehensive mental health care, including outpatient therapy and medication management, substance use treatment, adult residential homes, inpatient services, 24/7 crisis intervention via Emergency Solutions and NEC Cares, wraparound facilitation for families, school assistance programs offering free counseling sessions, supported employment, telemedicine, community-based skills training, the New Hope Clubhouse for social and vocational support, child and family therapy, and addiction recovery programs like intensive outpatient treatment. Accredited by CARF, NEC ensures consumer-focused programs with a sliding fee scale based on income and family size, accepting Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP, and prohibiting discrimination on any grounds to promote recovery and community reintegration.
