Cross Road Christian Recovery Center for Women is a faith-based, 4-month residential facility offering a Christ-centered, Bible-based program to help women struggling with addiction overcome their challenges through spiritual reflection and guidance from scripture.
Faith in Jesus Christ is emphasized to provide strength and inspiration for recovery.
The program, which is free of charge and funded entirely by donations, grants, and community support, teaches Godly values, biblical living principles, life skills, and recovery tools in a structured environment, including daily devotions, prayer, Bible study, one-on-one mentoring, and group classes addressing spiritual, emotional, and practical aspects.
Participants engage in regular church attendance, Celebrate Recovery, and community service projects, and must be open to addiction recovery principles taught from a Christian perspective, though not required to be professing Christians.
Opened in the fall of 2010 by Paul and Karon Rose as part of The Shepherd’s Way Christian Ministries, Inc., the center builds on their personal recovery journeys since 1980 and prior ministries.
Currently directed by Donald and Joni Reed, both recovering addicts ministering through faith, the program is supported by a dedicated board and volunteers.
For those completing the program, the six-month Victory Transitional Program provides continued support for developing a recovery lifestyle, including church attendance, self-help meetings, employment, and educational opportunities to foster financial independence and real-life integration.
What we treat
Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
The journey at Cross Road Recovery Center begins with an intensive four-month residential program designed for women who have already completed medical detox. Following this initial inpatient phase, residents can step down into the six-month Victory Transitional Program to continue building a sustainable recovery lifestyle.
Therapies
Rather than utilizing traditional clinical modalities, residents engage in daily devotions, Bible study, and one-on-one mentoring. The focus is on learning Godly values and practical life skills, integrating regular participation in local Celebrate Recovery meetings to build a solid spiritual foundation.
Addictions
The ministry focuses entirely on helping women seeking freedom from severe drug addiction and substance abuse. Because the facility is not a medical detox center, individuals must be physically stabilized and past the acute withdrawal phase of their addiction prior to entering the residential environment.
Conditions
While this Richmond facility does not provide clinical psychiatric care, the curriculum addresses the deep emotional and spiritual heavy lifting that accompanies addiction. Group classes help women navigate the emotional challenges of early recovery through a faith-based lens rather than a clinical one.
Issues
Beyond overcoming substance abuse, the program helps women rebuild their lives by tackling practical barriers to independence. Through the transitional phase, residents are supported in finding stable employment, pursuing GED programs, and learning how to integrate successfully back into society.
Programs
The core of the curriculum is an unapologetically Christ-centered, Bible-based approach to sober living. Following the initial four-month residential stay, graduates can enter the Victory Transitional Program, a specialized six-month track requiring regular church attendance and active involvement in self-help groups like AA or NA.
