Oaklawn is the leading provider of mental health and addiction services in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties, offering compassionate care and uncommon expertise since its founding in 1962 as a small organization in Elkhart rooted in Mennonite Health Services and accountable to Mennonite Church USA, Mennonite Brethren, and Brethren in Christ churches. As the state-designated community mental health center, Oaklawn has grown to four campuses with nearly 900 employees, providing a full continuum of services for children, adolescents, adults, and families, including inpatient treatment at Cedars unit, outpatient therapy with a Group First model using evidence-based practices like CBT and mindfulness, psychiatric services, medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders, crisis response with 24/7 mobile teams and walk-in centers, specialized programs for first-episode psychosis (Insight), transitional independence for youth (TIP), Amish community residences, and housing support via the Housing First model to prevent homelessness among those with serious mental illness.
