Next Step Community is a faith-based recovery organization in Terre Haute, Indiana, dedicated to helping individuals serious about overcoming addiction to drugs and alcohol regain an independent, substance-free lifestyle. Founded over a decade ago by co-founders Dana and Ron Simons, it operates as a non-profit ministry providing comprehensive residential and outpatient services in a supportive neighborhood setting within restored historic facilities. The organization's mission is to encourage, empower, and equip clients to build a strong foundation for lasting recovery, viewing recovery as a spiritual journey that emphasizes connection with self, others, and a higher power while remaining open to diverse pathways including 12-step fellowships, medication-assisted treatment (such as Suboxone and Vivitrol), and holistic modalities like yoga, acupuncture detoxification, mindfulness, and EMDR. Services encompass personalized levels of care—Step-In for intensive 24/7 residential support, Step-Down for transitional flexibility with employment opportunities, and Step-Out for ongoing outpatient counseling—along with clinical assessments, individual and group therapy for co-occurring mental health disorders using evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT, peer recovery coaching, life skills and character development classes, spiritual studies, employment and career coaching, and family involvement.
