The Wabash Valley Recovery Center is a Certified Recovery Community Organization (CRCO) serving Vigo, Parke, Vermillion, Clay, Putnam, Owen, Knox, Greene, Sullivan, and Monroe counties in the Wabash Valley region of Southwest Indiana.
As a one-stop resource hub for all things related to substance use disorder and recovery, we provide non-judgmental, empathetic support to anyone at no cost, with a mission to change lives through advocacy and education, creating hope, awareness, and support for substance use recovery.
Our vision is a world where everyone has access to the support and resources they need to recover.
Everyone at the WVRC, including staff, leadership, and board members, have lived experience of recovery from substance use and are trained, tested, and certified to provide effective peer recovery support.
We honor all pathways to recovery and support a range of strategies rooted in harm reduction principles.
Our programs include peer recovery coaching, the CLEAR program for low-level substance-related offenders, the INSPIRE jail reentry program, peer-led support groups, harm reduction street outreach with free naloxone kits, immediate connections to detox or inpatient care, family support, community outreach, social events, and Lyft transportation for wellness-related rides.
As the designated Regional Recovery Hub for Region 4 in partnership with the Division of Mental Health and Addiction, we unify the community against substance use, reduce barriers to recovery, coordinate local resources, and work to reduce stigma surrounding substance use.

Levels of Care

While standard clinical treatment tracks are not provided on-site, Wabash Valley Recovery Center serves as a community hub offering immediate connections to external detox and inpatient placement. The team guides individuals through their options, ensuring a smooth transition into higher intensities of care when needed.

Therapies

Rather than utilizing traditional clinical therapy, the approach here is rooted entirely in lived experience and mutual empowerment. Several staff members are credentialed in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), applying its concepts through a lens of non-judgmental accountability.

Addictions

Honoring all pathways to sustained sobriety, the team provides broad support for individuals facing any type of substance use disorder. The organization places a particular emphasis on addressing opioid addiction through aggressive harm reduction strategies and overdose prevention education.

Conditions

Because addiction rarely exists in a vacuum, peer recovery coaches are trained to support guests navigating co-occurring life and mental health challenges. Staff members holding certifications in Adult Mental Health First Aid and Alternative to Suicide facilitation provide empathetic, trauma-aware guidance.

Deeply embedded in the Terre Haute community, the team actively addresses systemic barriers like legal troubles, justice system involvement, and a lack of reliable transportation. Through dedicated reentry advocacy, they help individuals navigate the complex transition from incarceration back into everyday life.

Because cost should never prevent someone from finding help, all peer support, outreach, and connection services are provided completely free of charge. When external treatment is necessary, staff actively assist guests in securing health coverage or navigating financial resources to pay for outside detox programs.
