River Bend Hospital
River Bend Hospital, a nonprofit inpatient psychiatric hospital operated by North Central Health Services (NCHS), exists to make available acute inpatient psychiatric care to the adult population of Mid-North Indiana, specifically serving residents of Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White counties. Established in 2010 following a community health needs assessment that identified gaps in mental health services, the hospital is licensed by the Indiana FSSA Division of Mental Health and Addiction and accredited by The Joint Commission. Inpatient care is provided to adults by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral medicine specialists, including psychiatrists, internists, psychologists, masters-level therapists, nurses, dieticians, and recreation therapists, who create a therapeutic environment designed for short-term intervention and mental health enhancement. The hospital treats severe mental illnesses such as depression, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and other serious conditions through 24-hour advanced nursing care, daily psychiatrist visits, individual and group therapy sessions, recreational therapy, medication management, and transition planning to outpatient services. Committed to providing care with expertise, compassion, and professionalism, River Bend Hospital works cooperatively with other behavioral health organizations to restore the mental health of its citizens, while NCHS supports broader community benefits through grantmaking, youth suicide prevention initiatives, and programs promoting healthy communities.
