Inside Out Recovery is a Christ-centered transitional housing facility and not-for-profit ministry dedicated to believing in the power of a second chance for men seeking recovery from substance abuse and life-controlling issues.

Our mission is to provide a safe transitional housing option in a Christ-centered atmosphere for those who have completed a drug or alcohol treatment program or who have been released from prison, helping to educate, train, and motivate each resident to find positive, lasting solutions to his problems.

We believe there is no lasting recovery outside of a committed relationship with Jesus Christ, employing Christian principles, sound biblical instruction, and the Twelve Steps as essential tools for recovery.

Our highly structured residential program, spanning one to two years across five phases, focuses on six key areas: spiritual life through conviction, surrender, and Bible studies; a personal recovery plan including Celebrate Recovery and The Quest for Authentic Manhood; strengthening family ties; work, career, and educational goals; building healthy social relationships with boundaries; and health, wellness, and fitness.

Additional core programs like Winning at Work and Home, The Great Adventure, and Better Man empower men to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously, and live for God’s glory.

Since 2006, we have extended our reach through prison ministry at Putnamville Correctional Facility, offering Celebrate Recovery Inside and The Quest for Authentic Manhood to foster transformation, healing, and reintegration.

Serving men 18 years and older who are not sex or violent offenders, we provide all necessities including meals, job assistance, and a supportive community to transition back into society as positive, contributing individuals, all while embracing honesty with God, ourselves, and others to turn scars into sources of strength.

Levels of Care

Inside Out Recovery provides long-term sober living and transitional housing for men rebuilding their lives after primary treatment or incarceration. Their highly structured residential program spans one to two years and is broken into five distinct phases, carefully guiding residents from their initial entry back into independent community living.

Therapies

Rather than clinical modalities, the staff grounds their approach in biblical principles and customized group studies. Core therapeutic components include Celebrate Recovery for overcoming addictive habits and "The Quest for Authentic Manhood," a specialized study aimed at healing father wounds and reshaping personal identity.

Addictions

Viewing addiction through the comprehensive lens of healing "hurts, habits, and hang-ups," the facility helps men overcome both chemical dependencies and behavioral struggles. Whether a resident is battling alcohol abuse, drug addiction, or a process addiction, the ministry utilizes biblical accountability to break the cycle of destructive behaviors.

Conditions

As a non-medical transitional housing ministry, Inside Out Recovery does not provide specialized psychiatric care, detox services, or medication management. Men requiring dedicated treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions are gently encouraged to seek primary clinical care before entering this sober living environment.

Issues

The curriculum directly addresses the complex life stressors that accompany early sobriety and societal reentry. Group studies emphasize overcoming criminal justice issues, navigating career challenges with the "Winning at Work and Home" program, and repairing family relationships by deeply exploring spiritual and masculine identity issues.

Programs

Beyond its residential campus, Inside Out Recovery has maintained a dedicated prison ministry at Putnamville Correctional Facility since 2006. Operating strictly on a Christian faith-based therapeutic community model, their core programming centers entirely on 12-Step fellowships and shared accountability.

Situated on four and a half acres in a quiet residential area of Brazil, Indiana, the ministry center occupies a repurposed nursing home designed to feel like a true community. Residents share double-occupancy bedrooms and have access to a communal kitchen, a fitness center, and inviting living spaces that foster fellowship.

Payment

To keep housing accessible, Inside Out Recovery charges a flat, self-payment recovery support fee of just $125 per week. For men who enter the program without immediate employment, the administration allows residents to work 12 hours a week at the ministry center to cover their weekly costs.

Who We Serve

The Brazil campus strictly serves adult men aged 18 and older who have completed a formal treatment program or are transitioning out of the penal system. Although built on Christian principles, the facility welcomes young adults and adults of all backgrounds who possess a genuine desire to change, provided they are not required to register as sex or violent offenders.
