Valle Vista Health System, located in Greenwood, Indiana, has been providing comprehensive behavioral health care to the community since 1983.

For over 40 years, we’ve made it our mission to be a positive and supportive resource to adults and adolescents ages 12 and older who need a therapeutic environment to start their journeys toward mental wellness.

Licensed by the State of Indiana and fully accredited by the Joint Commission, we offer inpatient care for a broad range of psychiatric disorders and outpatient addiction care services, with the ultimate goal of helping people learn the necessary skills to regain confidence and function successfully at home, work, school and in their communities.

Our team of physicians and clinical staff provides individualized treatment to each patient, developing a care plan that will promote lifelong recovery and a brighter future for them and their families.

Services include acute psychiatric inpatient treatment, dual diagnosis programs, substance use disorder and detox for adults, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, medication-assisted treatment through New Vista Outpatient Recovery Centers in Greenwood and Indianapolis for opioid addiction, inpatient and outpatient care for children and adolescents focusing on issues like depression, anxiety, and trauma, and a specialized girls residential treatment program for ages 12-18 addressing PTSD, self-harm, suicidality, abuse, and human trafficking.

Our multidisciplinary approach incorporates evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, recreational therapy, group and family counseling, medication management, and discharge planning to treat the whole person in a compassionate, structured environment.

Treatment & Programs

Levels of Care

Valle Vista Health System and New Vista North emphasize a seamless continuum of care to support long-term recovery. Their step-down approach helps transition patients from acute inpatient stabilization and medically supervised detox directly into robust outpatient models like PHP and IOP. This structured pathway ensures individuals remain connected to their support systems and therapies as they navigate back into daily life.

Therapies

The clinical team heavily utilizes evidence-based modalities, drawing particularly on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) components across their continuum. For young women facing substance abuse, they incorporate the CBT-based Matrix Model, which focuses on relapse prevention and 12-step facilitation. Adults in the Opioid Treatment Program receive highly regulated Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combined with targeted individual and group therapy.

Addictions

At New Vista North, the clinical team specifically targets the opioid epidemic ravaging the central Indiana community. Through their specialized outpatient center, they help adults battling heroin and prescription opioid dependencies achieve stability through a no-judgment, recovery-first mindset. Programming also addresses severe alcohol addiction, providing comprehensive withdrawal management to set the foundation for a drug-free lifestyle.

Conditions

The hospital provides intensive stabilization for individuals in acute mental health distress, including severe depression, bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideation. Clinicians are highly trained in trauma-informed care, regularly treating complex PTSD and non-suicidal self-injury alongside co-occurring substance use disorders. Their dedicated dual diagnosis programming ensures that patients receive simultaneous care for psychiatric symptoms and addictive behaviors.

Issues

Recovery here often means addressing deep-seated emotional pain, which is why the staff explicitly addresses childhood trauma, physical abuse, and profound grief. Their specialized residential interventions are carefully structured to support highly vulnerable populations, including young survivors of human trafficking. By understanding how traumatic early life experiences drive self-harm or suicidality, clinicians help residents build safer, healthier coping mechanisms.

Programs

A defining pillar of this organization is the specialized Girls Residential Treatment Program, an intensive track catering explicitly to young women ages 12 to 18 who require profound emotional support. For adults, the standout is the branded Opioid Treatment Program housed at their outpatient recovery centers. Both specialized tracks are grounded in purely evidence-based philosophies to promote lasting, holistic wellness.
