What we treat
Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
The treatment continuum at Volunteers of America - Indianapolis is designed around specialized residential environments and flexible outpatient care. Mothers stay full-time at the Fresh Start Recovery Center, which meets ASAM level 3.5 criteria. Meanwhile, men involved in the criminal justice system reside at the Turning Point program. Clients can also transition into intensive outpatient programs or supportive recovery housing.
Therapies
Evidence-based frameworks guide daily treatment, blending intensive group therapy with motivational interviewing. Medication-Assisted Treatment sits at the core of both outpatient and residential services to support safe, lasting sobriety. Furthermore, programs integrate gender-responsive care and family coaching to heal the underlying psychological wounds driving addiction.
Addictions
Tackling the devastating impacts of the opioid epidemic is a primary focus for this clinical team. Specialized residential programs welcome pregnant women and mothers struggling with active opioid dependency. Care is also tailored for men in the justice system who are actively overcoming deep-rooted substance habits.
Conditions
Individuals managing complex mental health disorders alongside active addiction receive comprehensive behavioral health care. Staff members are strongly trauma-informed, delivering targeted relief to clients haunted by intense emotional or physical trauma. Specialized focus is also placed on treating profound depression, anxiety, and severe PTSD.
Issues
Recovery here goes far beyond clinical treatment by directly attacking the systemic barriers to a stable life. Teams actively support clients facing acute homelessness, deep financial stress, and complex child welfare involvement. Case managers also provide employment readiness training and court advocacy for individuals navigating tough legal hurdles.
