LifeSpring Health Systems is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has been the premier provider of comprehensive behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care, and related services in southern Indiana since 1964.
Beginning as a small outpatient clinic for children in Jeffersonville, Indiana, LifeSpring has grown to serve over 14,000 individuals annually across 11 counties—Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Orange, Perry, Scott, Spencer, and Washington—through more than 25 facilities.
Its mission is 'to improve and sustain the quality of life in our communities by providing comprehensive behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care and related services,' guided by the values that 'it is our privilege to serve, with the highest quality of care, in a professional and fiscally responsible manner.' LifeSpring employs a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurses, licensed therapists, counselors, and case managers to deliver tailored, evidence-based programs using an integrated care model that addresses the whole person, including education, prevention, assessment, intervention, and treatment.
Services encompass individual and group outpatient therapy, medical and psychiatric evaluations, recovery support through residential facilities like the Recovery Campus and Hope Center, crisis stabilization, school-based health services, Employee Assistance Programs, problem gambling treatment, and primary care as a patient-centered medical home, with no one turned away due to inability to pay, race, or other factors, supported by a sliding fee scale and Medicaid/Medicare acceptance.
Committed to strong partnerships with medical, social service, educational, governmental, and community organizations, LifeSpring focuses on the least restrictive, most supportive care for diverse populations, including children and families, veterans, the homeless, those with co-occurring disorders, and underserved communities, fostering recovery, resilience, and access to holistic healthcare.
What we treat
Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
The treatment continuum centers around a dedicated Recovery Campus in Jeffersonville. Clients can access sub-acute crisis stabilization at the Turning Point Center, transition into 24-bed residential care at the Hope Center in Jasper, or step down into supportive outpatient services. The agency also operates Supervised Group Living facilities to help adults transition toward independence.
Therapies
The multidisciplinary team utilizes traditional individual and group counseling alongside critical incident stress management and urgent crisis stabilization. Providers integrate evidence-based mental health therapies with primary physical care, active case management, and targeted nutrition therapy to address the whole person.
Addictions
Treatment spans a wide range of substance use disorders, supported heavily by the Project CARE initiative—a rapid response team for local overdose survivors. Beyond chemical dependencies, the clinical staff holds special certification from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions to treat problem gambling.
Conditions
Patients receive care for everything from general anxiety and depression to severe, persistent mental illness. The programming places a strong emphasis on dual diagnosis treatment, utilizing tailored interventions to help individuals simultaneously manage co-occurring psychological disorders and substance use.
Issues
Navigating profound life stressors is a core focus, with resources dedicated to veteran reintegration, family conflict, and trauma. Their specialized "Healthcare for the Homeless" designation ensures that those facing severe housing insecurity receive comprehensive diagnostic and stabilizing support.
Programs
The organization pioneers innovative community outreach, most notably through Project CARE, which connects overdose survivors with treatment within 72 hours. Another distinct track is the Alternative Family for Adults (AFA) program, matching individuals with serious mental illnesses to supportive householders in the community.
On-site
Amenities
Instead of an institutional feel, the Integrated Treatment Center offers a bright, modern 10,000-square-foot environment for outpatient recovery. For those needing round-the-clock behavioral support, the Hope Center provides a comfortable 24-bed clinical space equipped with supportive living accommodations.

Payment
Financial accessibility is a core pillar of the agency's foundation, operating on a strict policy that no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. Prospective patients can utilize Medicaid, Medicare, or a heavily subsidized sliding fee scale based entirely on household size and income.
