Serenity House is a 501(c)3 non-profit, 48-bed transitional residence based on the principles and philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous, committed to providing a structured facility for men in an atmosphere of strength and fellowship to assist residents in learning self-discipline to maintain a productive life without the use of alcohol and other drugs.
Our primary focus is to empower residents to find a way of living with spirituality, health, dignity, and self-respect.
Serenity House is self-supporting through efforts of the board of directors and special events committee, regularly inspected to meet all safety, fire, zoning, township, and state codes, and saves surrounding taxpayer communities more than $2 million annually.
Residents must find gainful employment after entry and agree to a minimum stay of 90 days, with access to facilities including residential beds, lounge, computer room, recreational room, dining room, commercial kitchen, laundry, managerial offices, and a program of recovery supported by executive directors, assistant managers, night managers, and a cook.
Additionally, construction has begun on a 10,000+ square foot Support Center next to Serenity House, envisioned as a safe-haven multi-room facility for men, women, and youth in the 12-step community, providing public and private meeting spaces to serve residents and the broader communities of Jeffersonville and Clarksville.
What we treat
Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
Serenity House operates as a highly structured transitional residence rather than a clinical treatment center. This 48-bed sober living facility requires residents to commit to a minimum stay of 90 days as they bridge the gap between early recovery and independent living.
Therapies
Rather than utilizing traditional clinical therapies, recovery here is driven by peer fellowship, rigorous accountability, and daily routine. The model relies entirely on the spiritual and practical foundations of Alcoholics Anonymous to reshape behaviors.
Addictions
The residential program provides a safe harbor for men primarily recovering from alcohol and substance use. Additionally, their on-site meeting schedule accommodates a broader community scope, hosting weekly Overeaters Anonymous groups to support those navigating food addiction.
Conditions
Because this is a transitional living environment rather than a medical facility, programming focuses entirely on substance recovery and self-discipline. Individuals seeking specialized psychiatric care or treatment for complex mental health conditions may need to secure outside clinical providers during their stay.
Issues
A paramount goal of this transitional program is helping residents rebuild a productive life and establish a strong sober social network. Because men are required to secure gainful employment shortly after entry, the house naturally combats housing insecurity while fostering the dignity needed for long-term independence.
Programs
The entire foundation of Serenity House rests on a structured 12-step-informed philosophy. Their local meeting schedule is highly active, featuring specialized track gatherings like Al-Anon group discussions, new resident meetings, and the Friday night Sunset Group to keep men anchored in the work.
On-site
Amenities
The physical space is equipped with practical areas designed to foster community and fellowship. At Serenity House, residents share meals prepared in a commercial kitchen and dining room, while downtime is supported by on-site lounge spaces, a recreational room, and a dedicated computer lab for job searches.
Coverage
Payment
Financial accessibility is maintained through a self-supporting non-profit model, with day-to-day operating costs raised by a dedicated board of directors and a special events committee. By requiring residents to find gainful employment upon entry, men are empowered to personally sustain their ongoing recovery and living expenses.

Who We Serve
The residential beds rely on a strong fellowship model built exclusively for adult men pursuing lasting sobriety. However, the organization functions as a hub for the broader recovery landscape in Clarksville and Jeffersonville, with their upcoming Support Center envisioned as a multi-room safe haven for men, women, and youth alike.
Additional Services
Wraparound support comes in the form of robust community gatherings, including open speaker meetings and regular "Lunch Bunch" sessions. Furthermore, the organization is currently constructing an adjacent 10,000-square-foot Support Center built to offer massive public and private meeting spaces for the extended 12-step community.
