LifeSpring Health Systems is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center and Federally Qualified Health Center that has been the premier provider of mental health and primary care services in southern Indiana since its founding in 1964 as a small outpatient clinic for children in Jeffersonville.
With a mission 'to improve and sustain the quality of life in our communities by providing comprehensive behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care and related services,' LifeSpring embodies the values that 'it is our privilege to serve, with the highest quality of care, in a professional and fiscally responsible manner.' Serving 11 counties across southern Indiana through over 25 facilities and reaching more than 14,000 individuals annually, the organization offers a comprehensive array of services including education, prevention, information, assessment, intervention, and treatment for mental health, addiction, and physical health needs.
Utilizing a team approach with physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and support staff, LifeSpring tailors specific programs to each individual, ensuring the least restrictive, most supportive services appropriate to their needs.
Primary care is patient-centered and holistic, providing evidence-based medicine regardless of ability to pay, while behavioral health services include individual and group therapy, medical assessments, and recovery support.
Specialized programs address substance use disorders through facilities like the Recovery Campus, Turning Point Center, and Hope Center, offering residential treatment, crisis stabilization, and integrated outpatient care.
LifeSpring nurtures strong partnerships with the medical community, social services, schools, justice officials, churches, and organizations, and operates a sliding fee scale to ensure no one is turned away due to inability to pay, race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Through initiatives like Project CARE for overdose response, school-based health services, veterans support, and homelessness programs such as PATH and Healthcare for the Homeless, LifeSpring commits to comprehensive, accessible care that fosters recovery and community well-being.
What we treat
Treatment & Programs
Levels of Care
Since 1964, this organization has built a vast continuum of care for southern Indiana residents. Prospective clients can utilize outpatient therapy and same-day open access clinics across the area. For individuals needing a higher intensity of support, specialized regional facilities offer 24-hour residential treatment, crisis stabilization, and sub-acute medical care.
Therapies
Clients work one-on-one with therapists or care managers to set concrete recovery goals. Group therapy sessions provide a safe space to learn new coping skills alongside peers. Because the facility operates an integrated health model, behavioral therapies are closely coordinated with primary physical care and psychiatric medication management. Care managers remain highly involved to help individuals navigate the entire healthcare system seamlessly.
Addictions
The clinical teams address a broad spectrum of substance use challenges, viewing them through an integrated lens of medical and behavioral health. LifeSpring holds a specialized certification from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions to treat problem gambling, offering these specific services regardless of a client’s ability to pay. Their Project CARE initiative also provides direct, immediate outreach to individuals experiencing opioid or other drug overdoses within the community.
Conditions
Treating serious mental illness is central to the mission of this community health center. Clients dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and bipolar disorder can access comprehensive psychiatric and therapeutic support. The clinical staff is highly experienced in guiding adults and youth through co-occurring disorders, ensuring both mental health diagnoses and addiction challenges are managed simultaneously.
Issues
Beyond traditional symptom management, the staff prioritizes the practical stress that often impacts recovery. A dedicated PATH program directly assists individuals facing housing insecurity with service coordination and benefits acquisition. Care teams routinely help families navigate child welfare involvement, sudden life transitions, and the complex realities of shifting from active military service back to civilian life.
Programs
Unique community-based solutions, such as the Alternative Family for Adults living program, match adults dealing with serious mental illness to stable home environments. The organization runs a dedicated Veterans Services track utilizing clinicians specifically trained in military culture. For immediate intervention, their Crisis Receiving Stabilization Services prevent unnecessary hospitalizations by providing a safe 24-hour space for clinical assessment.
On-site
Amenities
The residential campuses feature dedicated spaces designed to support different stages of recovery. A bright, modern 10,000-square-foot Integrated Treatment Center provides an uplifting environment for intensive outpatient care. For inpatient clients, the newly opened 24-bed Hope Center offers a fully staffed, supportive space that feels structured and secure. Both residential locations maintain 24/7 walk-in admission areas to welcome individuals exactly when they are ready for help.

Payment
Financial barriers are actively removed so that no one is turned away due to an inability to pay.
