Dove Recovery House for Women is Indiana’s leading provider of women-centered addiction treatment and recovery, serving as the largest recovery housing program for women in Marion and Dubois counties since 2000, with a third location planned for Bartholomew County in 2026.

Dove House empowers women to become substance-free, self-sufficient, and healthy by providing free, safe housing, quality programming, and hope for the future to those struggling with substance use disorder, many of whom have experienced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as well as homelessness.

As a certified Level IV Recovery Residence through the Indiana Alliance for Recovery Residences, it serves over 100 women annually at no cost, funded by grants, corporate supporters, and individual donors, with an average weekly cost of $280 per client fully covered.

The organization offers comprehensive, trauma-informed services in a residential setting, including phased programming such as Stages of Change for self-discovery and coping skills, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for understanding addiction and building communication skills, and Seeking Safety for addressing trauma and PTSD; additional recovery programming encompasses peer recovery and case management, NA/HA/AA meetings, life skills and coaching, relapse prevention, individual therapy, parenting classes, employment and work development, nutritious meals, family reunification, and optional faith-based activities.

With a compassionate team of experienced staff and a dedicated board, Dove House focuses on long-term recovery, achieving a 78% success rate in program completion, and supports women through transitional housing proven to enhance sobriety, reduce recidivism, and promote family reunification.

What we treat

Treatment & Programs

Levels of Care

The journey at this Indiana facility spans a continuum of long-term care designed for lasting stability. Residents begin their recovery in a structured indoor setting and move through an intensive outpatient program. They later transition into comprehensive aftercare support. Women commit to a minimum 90-day stay in sober living, though many remain for up to two years.

Therapies

Therapeutic care is delivered in a highly structured, three-phase cohort model designed to peel back the layers of trauma. Clients start with a curriculum called "Stages of Change" for self-discovery before advancing to individual therapy and relapse prevention planning. The final "Seeking Safety" phase focuses heavily on trauma resolution. Dedicated peer recovery specialists and case managers support clients through every step.

Addictions

Dove Recovery House for Women welcomes individuals battling severe substance use disorders. This includes women recovering from alcohol and heroin dependence. The clinical team understands that addiction often masks deep-rooted pain. By focusing on the underlying biology of addiction, the staff helps residents step into long-term sobriety.

Conditions

Care teams here address substance use disorder alongside severe co-occurring mental health challenges. Over 95 percent of the women seeking help have survived physical or sexual abuse. Because of this, treating post-traumatic stress disorder is woven directly into the residential curriculum. The goal is to ensure clients feel emotionally and physically secure.

Issues

Many who walk through these doors arrive facing severe life disruptions. These challenges often include chronic homelessness, housing insecurity, and deep financial stress. The staff actively helps women navigate these heavy burdens alongside the lingering effects of physical abuse. Counselors also prioritize mending estranged relationships and overcoming severe parenting challenges.

Programs

Guiding philosophies follow a peer-led, recovery community model that emphasizes deep interpersonal connection. The facility hosts on-site 12-Step meetings, including Heroin Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, directly inside the residence. Clients benefit from trauma-informed extended care tracks that map out long-term healing. They also have access to optional faith-integrated activities to support their spiritual health.
