Hamilton Center, Inc., is a not-for-profit regional behavioral health system serving central and west central Indiana since 1971, originally founded as the Katherine Hamilton Mental Health Center to address the lack of community-based mental health facilities.
Named in honor of advocate Katherine Hamilton, who sought improved care after experiencing the limitations of institutionalized treatment for her sister, the organization has grown from a single outpatient office in Terre Haute to over 21 locations across 11 counties, providing a comprehensive continuum of individualized, trauma-informed, and evidence-based services including behavioral health counseling for adults, children, and adolescents; addictions treatment through programs like WIN Recovery for opioid use disorder with medication-assisted therapies such as methadone; primary care via Grace Clinic Health Professional for underserved populations; crisis diversion and mobile response units; family preservation through Wraparound and Healthy Families programs; employment services; and specialized support for military veterans, new citizens post-incarceration, and community training like Mental Health First Aid.

The treatment continuum includes a state-licensed 16-bed inpatient unit for short-term, acute stabilization of behavioral and addiction disorders. Beyond structured inpatient care, patients can transition into residential group homes, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) utilizing the Matrix Model, or straightforward outpatient counseling. Clients also have access to dedicated telehealth services, allowing for flexible engagement across central Indiana.
